My script is a bunch of not so awsome shell script. Since I often return to the same several books repeatedly on multiple sessions this is a more pleasant way to access my books. It also remembers the last n books that have been opened whether they have been opened in the gui, a script, or otherwise and when called without arguments it returns the list of recent reads which can be selected via rofi. If more than one result is available in response to a query it shows them via rofi. That said I don't want to start up a whole app just to open a book I usually just open books via a script that wraps calibredb a cli interface to calibre's ebook library. Such styles can be chosen in your gui configuration menu or via qt5ct at least under linux. If your default is ugly you ought to change it. Calibre can be styled by choosing a qt5 style for your system. I also have no idea what "modern" means in this context unless you mean flat with few buttons or options.

Lots of people here support and work on free and open source software.įirst things first its python and qt. Is there a popular book that hasn't been pirated thanks to DRM? Do you think the Amazon lock-in that DRM provides is good for the industry? I certainly don't.Īs for your second question, you are probably not going to get the answer you expect. However, I don't think there's much evidence that DRM helps authors get paid. I agree that authors should usually get paid (I say usually because I support public libraries). It is working with rdp at 3389 and calibre content server at 8081 but calibre server at 8080 doesn't respond. For some people, it isn't a matter of choosing between paper or digital, it's digital or nothing. Hello, since the aptalca/rdp-calibre doesn't work anymore with calibre 4 I switched to this docker image for Synology as well. You suggest sticking with paper books, but the accessibility benefits (ie large typefaces or screenreaders) that you get with ebooks is hard to give up. Having access to your library when you travel is also a pretty big deal. I think if there were a non-proprietary DRM system where I could give my books away or loan them to friends reading on non-Amazon devices, I would feel a lot better about it. I now highly recommend Chunky for digital magazine viewing as well.Loaning is supported as long as the other person is also using a Kindle. I bought a digital issue and now am able to use all the functions of Chunky to view the pages the way I want to view them versus fighting the app, Zinio is the guilty app. Update: Not only is this simply the best comic reader by far I have now found a new use for this app, as a digital magazine reader. Along with the others who have reviewed this app, I can not recommend this app enough.

Now that Comixology allows me to download Image Comics and certain independent titles as PDFs I have been busy transferring them over to Chunky. I was having issues with displaying my PDFs on iBooks, contacted Image Comics about it and was recommended this reader.

I wanted to be able to access my Calibre library on my Android phone and ipad. While the guided view in those apps I always sort of liked - I prefer to see the whole panel not panels that are cut off - Chunky gives me so many options that I am in Comic viewer bliss now. Ive setup Calibre fine and everything is working locally. Then an arbitrary point P is shown with its local coordinates 628036. ConTeXt allows for export to xml (and xhtml). in 81 mm calibre with a system weight of 40 The order of the points does not.
